Advanced Cellulite Reduction With VelaShape® Body Contouring
Even with a healthy diet, regular exercise, and an active lifestyle, cellulite can still appear. Cellulite is extremely common and can affect people of all body types, making it difficult to achieve the smooth, even-looking contours you want.
At Dream Spa Medical, VelaShape® in Brookline offers a non-invasive approach to reducing the appearance of cellulite while helping improve the look and feel of the treated skin. With no incisions and little to no downtime, VelaShape can help create smoother-looking, more defined body contours.

VelaShape Before & After
How VelaShape® Works
The FDA-cleared VelaShape III system combines infrared light, bipolar radiofrequency (RF) energy, and vacuum technology to target cellulite and improve body contours. These technologies deliver controlled energy to the treatment area, helping heat underlying tissues and support skin tightening and smoother-looking contours.
What to Expect From VelaShape® Treatment
VelaShape cellulite treatment in Brookline is non-invasive and requires no incisions or lengthy recovery. During treatment, the applicator moves over the targeted area while delivering controlled energy and vacuum stimulation. Most patients can return to normal activities afterward, although treatment results and the number of sessions needed vary.

Look Better & Feel Better Today
Let our team help you on your aesthetic journey!
You’re likely a great candidate for the VelaShape treatment if you:
- Are interested in a non-surgical solution
- Have unwanted cellulite on the buttocks or legs
- Would like to see a slimmer body silhouette
- Are aware that this is not a weight loss solution
Your VelaShape session takes just 30 to 45 minutes to complete.
During the session, the VelaShape rollers create a therapeutic massage that increases circulation throughout the treatment area to aid in the creation of its results. Next, vacuum technology elevates the tissues, bringing them closer to the energy source.
When the tissues are positioned correctly, highly advanced infrared energy (IR) heats the tissues to a depth of up to 3mm. While this is happening, bi-polar radiofrequency (RF) energy guides the heat, distributing it evenly throughout the treatment area and preventing it from damaging nearby healthy tissues.
Our patients often compare this treatment to the feeling of a warm massage, and it’s rare that our patients experience any discomfort after their procedure is over. VelaShape provides dramatic results without downtime or significant discomfort. You may notice results after 1 treatment, and will achieve full results after a series of 3 to 6 treatments.
No, VelaShape is not a weight loss treatment, even though it does reduce the presence of fatty deposits. It uses a combination of technologies to contour your body, reducing the trouble spots that diet and exercise can’t reach. Most patients see gradual and cumulative results throughout the treatment regime.
Though fat cells are eliminated, the remaining fat cells can increase in size. To support your positive results, you’ll need to follow healthy lifestyle choices. We can also schedule follow-up maintenance visits to keep cellulite at bay.
Pre- and Post-Care Instructions for VelaShape in Brookline
- Women who are pregnant or nursing should not receive VelaShape treatments.
- We have found that it is best to avoid eating a large meal prior to your appointment if you are treating your abdomen. We will be massaging and applying heat to your abdomen, which may make it uncomfortable during and immediately after treatment if you are very full.
- We have found with all body contouring procedures that it is best if the patient is as close to their “goal weight” as possible and that their weight has been mostly stable for the past 6 months. VelaShape, along with all body contouring procedures, is intended to contour a specific area that requires more attention than simple diet and exercise can offer. It is not intended as a weight loss procedure.
- It is best to avoid direct sun exposure or tanning booths prior to your appointment. Although treating tanned skin is not contraindicated, we will not treat compromised or sunburnt skin.
- We suggest avoiding sunless tanning lotion for 2 days prior to your appointment. If you have sunless tanning on your skin, it is best to exfoliate prior to your appointment. This will not impede your treatment in any way, but the solution used in the treatment combined with the heat and massage will remove the product, and it may look undesirable.
- We always suggest hydrating as much as possible prior to any treatment at Dream Spa Medical. It is a great way to help your body function at its best as well as help to accelerate your healing time and enhance results.
- Proper hydration and a healthy, active lifestyle are of the utmost importance when undergoing body contouring procedures. All of these modalities work in conjunction with your lymphatic system. The more you get your body moving and provide it with the proper nutrients, the better your results will be.
- Generally, VelaShape is a very comfortable procedure with little to no downtime.
- You may experience minor redness or small hive-like bumps in the treated area post-treatment; this should subside within 3 days.
- Bruising is a possibility. If this occurs, you may apply Arnica gel to expedite healing. You may take Advil or Motrin for discomfort.
- VelaShape works with your body’s lymphatic system to eliminate fatty deposits and toxins. We suggest maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle to help encourage your lymphatic system to function at its highest level.
- We suggest that you increase your hydration intake by 30–50% daily to continue to promote optimal lymphatic flow.
Best results are achieved with a series of 6 treatments, spaced 1 to 2 weeks apart depending upon what we are targeting with the treatment. We suggest weekly treatments for cellulite and circumferential reduction, and every 2 weeks for skin tightening.
Maintenance treatments are strongly encouraged within 6 months to 1 year after completing your series. Dream Spa Medical offers reduced package pricing for our patients who make the commitment to invest in themselves with maintenance treatments.
