A weakened pelvic floor means your vaginal canal won’t have the gripping ability it once had, reducing sensation for both you and your partner. In men, a strong pelvic floor helps them achieve and maintain an erection.
Also, if you’re constantly concerned about whether you’ll be able to control your urine, that self-conscious worry will negatively impact your libido and your ability to stay “in the moment” during intimacy.
Emsella treatment rebuilds the strength of your pelvic floor and your core muscle. Your concerns over incontinence will fade as pleasurable sensations increase during intercourse and your confidence in your sexual ability grows strong.
Many of our patients experience positive improvements after their first Emsella treatment. A typical treatment plan requires 6 30-minute sessions, scheduled twice a week, for the best results. After your Emsella treatment, your abdominal muscles may be slightly sore from the intensity of the workout. This is normal and will subside within a day or two.
On average, Emsella in Brookline delivers a remarkable 72% decrease in the severity of urinary incontinence. Studies have shown significant enhancements in sexual satisfaction and overall sexual well-being, too. On average, satisfaction with orgasms increased to 62.6%, and lubrication improved to 46.6%. By strengthening the pelvic floor muscles, Emsella enables individuals to regain control over their bladder function, reducing or eliminating episodes of leakage and raising the average satisfaction level to 47.8%.
Best of all: According to clinical research by BTL, 95% of patients who have Emsella report an improved quality of life!
Whether it’s caused by the effects of pregnancy, aging, or a sedentary lifestyle, urinary incontinence is defined as the involuntary leakage of urine. Urinary incontinence comes in 3 different forms:
- Stress incontinence happens when pressure is put on the bladder, causing leakage. It’s one of the most common forms of urinary incontinence, and it can be triggered by coughing, laughing, sneezing, or exercising.
- Urge incontinence is the sudden, intense urge to urinate. This urge happens frequently and without warning.
- Mixed incontinence combines both stress and urge incontinence.
Emsella Pre- & Post-Care Instructions
- Wear comfortable clothing, because you’ll be sitting for 30 minutes.
- Make sure you’ve used the restroom before treatment. The number of Kegel-like contractions will be an intense workout.
- Remove any metal devices from your body, including piercings and metal items on your clothing.
- Remove your watch, your cell phone, and make sure you don’t have any electronics on you, as the electromagnetic energy emitted by the Emsella device can possibly damage them.
- If you have metal hardware internally (spinal brace, bone screws, hip replacement), you shouldn’t have Emsella.
- You can’t have Emsella if you use a pacemaker, pain pump, or penile implant.
- If you have a history of active seizures, you shouldn’t have Emsella.
- You must wait for 3 months or longer after having pelvic floor surgery before having Emsella therapy.
- There is no downtime after having Emsella. You’ll be free to go about your regular daily routine.
- Because your core muscles may be fatigued or slightly sore, depending on the intensity of your treatment, you may wish to refrain from heavy exercise directly after your treatment.
- Be sure to stay hydrated, so that your muscles have what they need to prevent a buildup of lactic acid.
