Support Skin & Hair Rejuvenation With PRP, PRF & Growth Factors
Your body’s natural healing potential can support aesthetic rejuvenation. At Dream Spa Medical, PRP, PRF, and growth factor treatments in Brookline can be incorporated into personalized plans for skin rejuvenation, hair restoration, and other aesthetic goals.
These regenerative treatments use components derived from your own blood, including platelets, proteins, and growth factors, to support natural regenerative processes and improve the appearance of skin texture, hair density, and signs of aging.
What Are PRP, PRF & Growth Factors?
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) and Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) are autologous treatments made from a small sample of your own blood. Platelets contain naturally occurring growth factors and proteins involved in tissue repair. These components are concentrated and applied or injected into targeted areas as part of a customized treatment plan.
Potential Benefits
Depending on the treatment and area being addressed, PRP, PRF, and growth factor treatments may support skin rejuvenation, improve the appearance of skin texture and tone, support collagen production, and promote healthier-looking hair in areas affected by thinning.

How PRP & PRF Treatments Work
Your PRP or PRF treatment in Brookline begins with a consultation to discuss your concerns and goals. A small blood sample is drawn and placed in a centrifuge to separate and concentrate specific blood components. The resulting platelet-rich preparation is then applied or injected into the targeted treatment area.
PRP vs. PRF
Both PRP and PRF use your own blood but are prepared differently. PRP concentrates platelets in plasma and contains naturally occurring growth factors, while PRF contains platelets and growth factors within a fibrin matrix, providing a different release profile. Your provider can recommend the option that best fits your aesthetic goals.

These growth factor treatments are very low-risk and minimally invasive, with a short recovery time. PRP and PRF treatments are often added to other treatments for a “vampire” addition—especially facials. They provide a number of additional benefits for patients, including:
- Increased collagen production
- Enhanced skin tone, texture, and quality
- Brighter, smoother, fuller skin under the eyes
- Tighter, firmer skin
- Long-lasting results
- Effectively replaces filler treatments
- Non-surgical hair restoration
- Regenerated hair follicles that can produce healthy strands of hair
- Renewed hair growth
- A thicker, stronger head of hair
Almost anyone who wants a natural, minimally invasive solution for aging skin, under-eye hollows, or hair loss is a candidate for PRP, PRF, & Growth Factor.
Ideal candidates for PRP treatments meet the following requirements:
- Are generally in good health.
- Do not smoke.
- Have not had recent steroid treatments.
- Are not pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Have no active skin infections or rashes in the treatment area.
Because PRP is derived from your own blood, it poses a very low risk of reaction.
PRP, PRF, & Growth Factors involves drawing blood from a patient’s arm. The collected blood is then spun in a special centrifuge to separate its components. The platelet-rich plasma is then reinjected and/or microneedled back into the skin, or it’s added to a gel to spread on the surface of the skin in the treatment area.
While there is no significant recovery time to worry about and you can return to your usual activities right away, there may be some side effects after your treatment. After treatment, you may experience a small amount of pain or slight bleeding at the injection site, as well as swelling for 4 to 5 days. As a topical gel, it causes no issues to the skin.
Pre- and Post-Care Instructions fro PRP, PRF, and Growth Factors in Brookline
- Women who are pregnant or nursing should not be treated with PRP, PRF, and Growth Factor injections.
- We suggest that if you are actively trying to conceive, you consult your physician before being treated with PRP, PRF, and Growth Factor injections.
- Please allow a minimum of 2 weeks’ time in between any vaccinations and your treatment.
- It is best to avoid alcohol & blood-thinning medications (aspirin, ibuprofen, etc.) 24 to 48 hours prior to your treatment. This may increase your risk of bruising.
- Bruising is always a risk with this procedure. For this reason, we recommend taking Arnica tablets for 5 days leading up to your procedure.
- If you are prone to and being treated in an area that may cause a Herpes Labialis outbreak, we suggest pretreating with an antiviral medication for 2 days prior to your treatment and 2 days post-treatment. Dream Spa Medical is happy to provide you with a prescription, assuming that you are a candidate for this prescription.
- We always suggest hydrating as much as possible prior to any treatment at Dream Spa Medical. It is a great way to help your body function at its best and help to accelerate your healing time as well as enhance results. For this treatment, we strongly encourage increasing your hydration by 30% to 50% as well as increasing intake of green leafy vegetables, such as celery juice, as it drastically improves the quality of the growth factor content that we are able to extract from your blood.
- You may consider having at least a snack or a small meal within an hour of your appointment. Getting injected with needles and/or having your blood taken can, at times, cause you to feel “queasy” or unwell. It always helps to have a little something in your stomach to combat those feelings. We keep juice and snack bars on hand in case you need a little pick-me-up mid-treatment!
- The treated area will feel sensitive and tender to the touch. This should resolve within 24 to 48 hours.
- Bruising and swelling can be expected and will subside within 3 to 7 days. Most of the swelling is actually the fluid or plasma portion of the product being absorbed by your body as the platelet portion of the product creates the growth stimulating matrix. It is important not to apply pressure to this area for at least a week after your treatment, as any pressure could disrupt the matrix and impede results. You may gently apply Arnica for bruising.
- Avoid NSAIDs and aspirin for approximately 2 weeks after your treatment. NSAIDs increase the risk of bruising and interfere with the collagen stimulating process.
- Avoid heavy lifting, strenuous activity, and excessive sweating for 24 to 48 hours.
- Visible injection marks are normal and to be expected in most cases. This usually subsides within 24 hours. You may apply makeup after this timeframe.
- Treated areas should be cared for gently when washing your face or applying products. It is best not to touch or manipulate the treated area.
- Do not scratch or pick at the injection sites, as this may cause infection.
- We suggest waiting a minimum of 1 week before any additional treatments, such as facials, peels, laser treatments, etc.
- Try to sleep on your back, with your head elevated, for 1 to 2 nights.
PRP/PRF injectable treatments are highly effective treatments that utilize your body’s own natural growth factors to rejuvenate areas of concern. These treatments are most effective when combined with collagen induction therapy and done as part of a series.
