The Laser Vein Removal Process
Dream Spa Medical has 2 laser systems ready to address your vein and capillary issues: GentleMax® Pro and Candela® Nordlys.
Though they deliver different wavelengths, both cause blood within the vessel to coagulate, eventually destroying the vein or capillary. Your body reabsorbs the remnants, and blood flow is redirected to vessels deeper below your skin’s surface where they do not show.

Side effects from laser vein removal treatment may include:
- Slight redness.
- Mild Swelling.
- Slight soreness.
Though there is no downtime, you may wish to take time out to elevate your legs. Side effects are temporary and typically resolve in 7 days.
Visible veins on the legs or other parts of the body can often appear as a natural part of the aging process. While they don’t typically present a particularly urgent medical threat, they can affect your appearance, and can sometimes be painful and uncomfortable. Here at Dream Spa Medical, we believe that you deserve to feel all the confidence and empowerment that comes along with clear, beautiful skin.
Our GentleMax Pro and Candela laser systems can safely and effectively treat both superficial facial veins and deeper blue leg veins on men and women of all skin tones.
Our laser vein removal treatments generally take between 15 and 30 minutes and is quite comfortable. You will experience a light tingling sensation and have little to no recovery period once your treatment is complete.
The number of treatments necessary depends on the number, color, and size of the vessels being treated. Since individual results vary, a member of the Dream Spa Medical team will speak with you during your consultation and talk you through everything you can expect.
Pre- & Post-Care Instructions for Laser Vein Removal in Brookline
- Women who are pregnant should not receive laser vein removal. If you are nursing and would like to pursue treatment we ask that you consult your PCP for clearance.
- Avoid direct sun exposure & tanning beds for 2 weeks prior to your appointment.
- Please avoid using self-tanners for 2 weeks prior to your appointment specifically in the area to be treated. If you have used self-tanner outside of the 2-week timeframe, we ask that you please exfoliate the area to ensure no remnants of the product are left in the area to be treated. The laser energy could burn the surface of the skin since the laser could target the “tanned area” instead of your vein.
- If you are currently taking oral antibiotics or steroids, you should discontinue the medication for 10 days prior to your appointment.
- It is best if you arrive to your appointment free of makeup, perfume, lotion, or other cosmetic products in the treatment area.
- If you have a known allergy or sensitivity to Cryogen Cooling Therapy, please inform our team when scheduling your appointment.
- We always suggest hydrating as much as possible prior to any treatment at Dream Spa Medical. It is a great way to help your body function at its best and help to accelerate your healing time as well as enhance results.
- Consider elevating your legs for the first 48 hours if they were treated. We also recommend wearing support hose for at least 72 hours after leg vein treatments.
- Treated veins frequently remain visible for 3 to 6 weeks before dissipating. This is due to residual clotted blood in the vessel and the time it takes for your body to naturally reabsorb the unwanted blood/tissue.
- A red scab may form under the skin. After a few weeks, your body will reabsorb it. Successful treatments usually exhibit this.
- It is possible to have pain from the treatment of larger veins for several days post-treatment. Tylenol and/or Arnica are recommended for any discomfort.
- It is advised to remain out of the sun for 1 week. It is recommended that you use a medical-grade sunblock for any sun exposure.
- Avoid strenuous exercise, sweating, and excessive temperatures for 72 hours.
- You may proceed with any injectable treatments and most cosmetic procedures immediately following your treatment.
